A Dairy Herdsperson:

  • Performs herd health procedures

A Fruit Grower is responsible for:

  • Planting, cultivating, propagating, spraying, irrigating, transplanting, pruning, and harvesting of all types of fruit.

  • Reads and interprets Code of Practices, Swine Canadian Quality Assurance procedures, Agriculture Safety Audit Procedures, and veterinarian recommendations/prescriptions;
  • Performs herd health and comfort maintenance;
  • Performs breeding/gestation procedures;
  • Performs farrowing procedures;
  • Manages nursery stock;
  • Performs manure management procedures;
  • Operates and maintains farm systems, vehicles, and equipment;
  • Operates and maintains farm mechanical equipment.

Agricultural Equipment Technician

An Agricultural Equipment Technician inspects, diagnoses and repairs agricultural machinery such as tractors and implements used for tillage planting, harvesting, spraying and irrigation. Specifically, an Agricultural Equipment Technician services and repairs various agricultural equipment systems including:

  • electrical, hydraulic, engine and braking systems
  • intake, exhaust and emission control systems
  • mechanically and electronically controlled fuel systems
  • clutches, transmissions, drive axles and final drive assemblies
  • steering and suspension systems
  • tires, wheels, ballasting devices, undercarriages and tracks
  • air-conditioning and structural components and accessories
  • tillage, planting and harvesting equipment
  • spraying and irrigation agricultural systems

Appliance Service Technician

An Appliance Service Technician installs, assembles, disassembles, removes, services, repairs, maintains and disposes of domestic appliances and electrical household products. Some examples include refrigerators, dishwashers, washers, dryers, and ovens. Specifically, an Appliance Service Technician:

  • performs work on multiple appliance and household product systems such as: electrical, electronic control and component, mechanical, water, air, and sealed
  • reads and interprets work orders and manufacturer’s specifications, and follows service manual instructions
  • installs, services, and repairs appliances and household products including performing inspections, determining leaks and malfunctions, cleaning, lubricating, adjusting and aligning systems and components, verifying operation, and confirming electrical supply
  • uses specialized tools and methods to test, calibrate, adjust, and fabricate appliances, household products, their components and accessories
  • recovers existing refrigerant and transfers the gases into approved storage containers for disposal

Arborist

An Arborist transplants, maintains and removes trees and woody plants using ropes, climbing systems, pruning tools, diagnostic tools and mechanized equipment. Arborists have knowledge in the science of arboriculture, the cultivation, management and study of individual trees, shrubs, vines, and woody plants. An Arborist carries out treatments for optimal tree health, managing pests, diseases, wounds and defects that impact trees and woody plants. Specifically, an Arborist:

  • transplants, prunes, maintains and removes trees and woody plants
  • climbs trees and works at heights
  • identifies and treats diseases and pests on trees and woody plants
  • improves the health and integrity of damaged trees and woody plants
  • enhances soils by fertilizing, irrigating, mulching and aerating
  • provides advice on trees and woody plants with others including residential, commercial and government representatives

Architectural Glass and Metal Technician

An Architectural Glass and Metal Technician handles, measures, cuts, prepares, fits, installs, replaces and repairs all types of glass and glass substitutes, typically in commercial, residential and transportation settings. An Architectural Glass and Metal Technician fabricates and installs curtain wall framing, aluminium storefront frames and entrances, doors and hardware, structural silicone glazing, skylights and sloped glazing. Specifically, an Architectural Glass and Metal Technician:

  • lays out, measures, prepares, fabricates and installs/replaces architectural glass and metal components and air/vapour barriers in systems such as entranceways, windows, skylights and curtain walls
  • works with and installs plastics, granite, aluminum panels and other similar materials used as glass substitutes, as well as films or laminates that improve the durability or safety of the glass
  • works from mobile equipment, scaffolds and swing stages, sometimes at great heights, to manoeuvre glass panels that are lifted by cranes and other lifting equipment.

An Assistant Cook prepares and cooks a wide range of foods for public consumption in various settings such as restaurants and hotels. Specifically, an Assistant Cook:

  • prepares, cooks, and assembles complete breakfasts
  • prepares short order dishes including hot and cold sandwiches
  • prepares stocks, soups and sauces, salads, dressings, vegetables and desserts
  • uses a variety of preparation methods including roasting, deep-frying, poaching, sautéeing, braising and grilling to prepare meats, poultry and fish
  • practises safe work practices, hygiene, equipment handling, sanitation and workplace safety

An Automotive Glass Technician:

  • Repairs, removes and installs glass and windshields in motorized and automotive vehicles
