Automotive Painter

An Automotive Painter works on the surface of motor vehicles and restores vehicle finishes, including removing exterior trim and hardware, matching colours and mixing paints, and preparing surfaces for painting. Specifically, an Automotive Painter:

  • removes exterior trim and hardware
  • removes sub-coating
  • matches colours and mixes paints
  • prepares metal surfaces for painting by sanding and masking
  • applies primers, primer surfacers, clearcoats and urethanes
  • cleans and polishes painted surfaces, including removing and replacing decals
  • applies undercoating treatments

Baker

A Baker prepares and bakes pies, tarts, squares, bread, rolls, cookies, cakes and other items for commercial and retail establishments as well as restaurants. Specifically, a Baker:

  • prepares straight or sponge dough, yeast-raised pastry, puff pastry and aerated products
  • makes savoury products such as filled pies, patties, rolls, biscuits, crackers and flat breads
  • finishes and decorates cakes, prepares fillings, mousses, sauces, compotes and glazes
  • prepares confectionary, specialty goods and desserts for dietary restrictions
  • makes ice creams, sorbets/sherbets, gelatos and other frozen desserts
  • calculates raw product requirements to meet production demand and controls inventory

Baker-Patissier

A Bearings Mechanic performs the following:

  • Disassembles and cleans bearings, seals and chocks
  • Inspects bearings, seals and chocks for wear, and damage

Blacksmith

A Blacksmith:

  • Forges and repairs metal parts used in farm machinery and industrial and domestic equipment
  • Makes striking and cutting tools
  • Makes, sharpening or hardening drills, chisels and other tools.
  • Makes custom work, including ornamental railings, gates, grilles, furniture and horse shoes.
  • Forges welding
  • Conducts hot riveting

Brick and Stone Mason

A Brick and Stone Mason builds and repairs walls, floors, arches, pavings, partitions, fireplaces, chimneys, smokestacks and other structures. A Brick and Stone Mason often works on industrial, commercial, institutional and residential buildings. Specifically, a Brick and Stone Mason:

  • erects, installs, maintains, repairs and alters walls, floors, arches, pavings, partitions, fireplaces, chimneys, smokestacks and other structures
  • works with materials such as brick, natural stone, manufactured stone, tiles, precast masonry panels, glass blocks, concrete blocks, light‐weight insulated panels, other masonry units, insulation and membranes

Cabinet maker

A Cabinet maker:

  • Builds, repairs, finishes and installs residential and commercial cabinets, wooden furniture and architectural millwork using a variety of woods, laminates and other products
  • Reads drawings and specifications, and prepare layouts
  • Sets up and operates woodworking equipment, both power and computerized, to machine wood products and composite materials

Cement (Concrete) Finisher

A Cement (Concrete) Finisher installs concrete structures including interior floors and exterior pavements using a variety of methods of construction to produce a variety of finishes, colours and textures in all types of residential, institutional, commercial and industrial buildings. Specifically, a Cement (Concrete) Finisher:

  • prepares, forms, reinforces, places, levels, finishes, cures and joints all types of concrete flatwork
  • operates a variety of powered equipment including ride-on finishing machines and laser guided screeds
  • specializes in the application of all horizontal concrete surface finishes ranging from traditional trowel finishes to exposed aggregate, imprinted, pigmented, stained and dyed and polished concrete using a wide range of specialty liquid and cementitious materials systems
  • repairs and restores existing concrete surfaces and structures

Chef

A Chef:

  • Works in restaurants, hotels, entertainment clubs, country clubs, spas, bistros and other assorted eateries;
  • Demonstrates knowledge of food preparation and presentation, menu management, sanitation and food safety, and the use of wines, liquors and spirits in cooking.
